Are my files really private?
Yes, absolutely! All PDF processing happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly technology. Your files never leave your device, are never uploaded to our servers, and we have no way to access them. When you close the page, all data is automatically cleared from your browser's memory.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required. PDFLime is completely free to use without any sign-up, registration, or login. Just visit the site and start using any tool immediately.
Is PDFLime really free?
Yes, PDFLime is 100% free with no hidden costs, subscriptions, or premium tiers. All features are available to everyone at no charge.
What file size limits are there?
Since processing happens in your browser, the main limitation is your device's available memory (RAM). Most modern devices can handle PDFs up to several hundred megabytes. Very large files may take longer to process or may not work on devices with limited memory.
Which browsers are supported?
PDFLime works on all modern browsers that support WebAssembly: Chrome/Edge 90+, Firefox 88+, and Safari 15+. We recommend using the latest version of your browser for the best experience.
Can I use PDFLime offline?
Yes! Once you've loaded PDFLime in your browser, you can use it offline. The app can be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for easy offline access.
How does PDFLime compare to other PDF tools?
Unlike most online PDF tools that upload your files to their servers, PDFLime processes everything locally in your browser. This means better privacy, faster processing (no upload/download time), and the ability to work offline. Plus, it's completely free with no ads or tracking.
What PDF operations can I perform?
PDFLime currently supports merging PDFs, splitting PDFs, compressing PDFs, rotating pages, converting PDFs to images, converting images to PDFs, extracting text, adding watermarks, and extracting or deleting specific pages. We're continuously adding more features.
Is my data tracked or analyzed?
No. We don't use analytics, tracking cookies, or any data collection tools. We have no idea what files you process or how you use the tools. Your privacy is our top priority.
Can I process multiple files at once?
Yes! Many tools support batch processing. For example, you can compress multiple PDFs at once or merge many files into a single document.
What image formats are supported?
For image to PDF conversion, we support JPG, JPEG, PNG, and most common image formats. For PDF to image conversion, you can export as PNG or JPEG.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
PDFLime is open source! You can report bugs or request features by opening an issue on our GitHub repository. We welcome all feedback and contributions from the community.
Does PDFLime work on mobile devices?
Yes! PDFLime is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. However, processing large files on mobile devices may be slower due to hardware limitations.
Can I use PDFLime for commercial purposes?
Yes, you can use PDFLime for both personal and commercial purposes completely free of charge. There are no restrictions on usage.
How is PDFLime funded?
PDFLime is an open-source project created to provide privacy-respecting PDF tools. It's currently maintained by volunteers and doesn't have any monetization or advertising.
